The Enduroman Lanzarote is a race of double Ironman distance held in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. The race was an International Ultra Triathlon Association (IUTA) World Cup race. The swim is based at the town beach, the bike course is a loop from Playa Blanca, to Yaiza and El Golfo, and the run a loop along the promenade from the town centre to Marina Rubicón. There were 42 entrants.
Known as the GUCR - Britain's longest non-stop running race. Ran from Gas Street Basin in the centre of Birmingham to Little Venice on the outskirts of London along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. Competitors are required to complete the 145 mile distance within the 45 hour cut-off.
The first ever Double Ironman distance event in the UK. Held in Lichfiled in the Midlands - a 4.8 mile swim in a pool, 224 mile bike and a 52 mile run. 48 athletes in two waves of 24 each. The first wave started at 6am, I was in the second wave that started at 10am.
This race, which is actually about 13 miles in length, has been held in East London, South Africa, since 1975. It starts at the mouth of the Kwelera River at Yellow Sands north of East London. Runners follow a rugged seaside course over loose boulders, gulleys, soft sand and tarmac before they have to cross the Gonubie and Nahoon Rivers finishing on Nahoon Beach.
