Known as the GUCR - Britain's longest non-stop running race. Ran from Gas Street Basin in the centre of Birmingham to Little Venice on the outskirts of London along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. Competitors are required to complete the 145 mile distance within the 45 hour cut-off.
This race, which is actually about 13 miles in length, has been held in East London, South Africa, since 1975. It starts at the mouth of the Kwelera River at Yellow Sands north of East London. Runners follow a rugged seaside course over loose boulders, gulleys, soft sand and tarmac before they have to cross the Gonubie and Nahoon Rivers finishing on Nahoon Beach.
